Create a portable cleaning caddy

I’m not a fan of cleaning.  Decluttering, yes.  Cleaning, no.  So, anything I can devise to make it quick and relatively painless and efficient is quickly implemented.

I live in a medium-sized house with two stories, which also includes a finished basement.  I found that when I was dusting, Swiffering, and scrubbing I was relying on carting disinfecting wipes, Swiffer sheets, paper towels, a sponge, Febreeze and cleaning bottles up and down stairs and from room to room.  It sometimes required multiple trips and other times I’d be walking from floor to floor to find cleaning supplies I needed.  Nice to get the workout, not so nice for time management.

So, when the idea light bulb came off to put together a cleaning caddy, I acted immediately.

The solution

I went to Target and purchased a divided bucket with a handle that also had a built in post to put my papertowel roll on.  In the same trip, I stocked up on cleaning supplies and pulled together a portable cleaning caddy with all the essentials:

  • Paper towels
  • Sponge
  • Cleaning liquid
  • Febreeze
  • Swiffer sheets
  • Small dustpan and brush
  • Feather duster
  • Disinfecting wipes

Now, except for a vacuum and a Swiffer mop, I have everything I need to clean each room in one bucket that can be carried with one hand using the handle.

This isn’t rocket science, obviously.  But I was pleasantly surprised by the number of affordable options for these caddys at both Target and websites online.  Hope you enjoy the tip!
