Create a portable collection tool
July 28, 2009 # 10:13 PM # Productivity # No CommentYou’re on the train heading to work and a brilliant business idea invades your daydreaming. An unexpected wait at the DMV leaves you with half an hour to kill and no outlet for your thoughts. Then an unexpected downpour confines you to your car for 10 minutes while you wait to dash into the store. But in all these situations you lacked a collection tool to make your “dead time” more productive.
Commandment #382: always have a portable collection tool.
For me, my portable collection tool is a small notebook and pen I keep in my purse (or at my side in other ways) and my iPhone. Both allow me to capture thoughts, lists and ideas wherever I go, which ensures that I make the most of unexpected free time during my day.
There is enough going through our minds throughout the day that any solution to capture those thoughts and remove them from our cluttered mind is a welcome one!
